Review. IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES – Psicofonias - Las Voces Desconocidas (2016). The dead finally speak to us

IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES (Jouni Havukainen, Finland) from the first sounds i've heard long time ago (Sacrosancts Bleed and Enter Now The World albums, and especially composition DEATH, JUST ONLY DEATH...) became "my music": its sound is hard but at the same time meditative and not irritating. Symphonic industrial, industrial bossanova, - one of the names of the band's style. For me it is a very good, quality (post)industrial music with martial music influences that always remind: memento mori. This time, in album Psicofonias - Las Voces Desconocidas, the musician explores dead voices. Rituals of life and death here come from an inspiration of Jose Moral's documentary "Psicofonias: Las Voces Desconocidas" (2008) which is about the voices of dead people where echoes of spirits leave us some footprint after death. IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES now becomes a medium which tries to connect the afterlife with its wonderful, powerful music.

Jouni creates a unique atmosphere where dead can talk and alive shut up and listen.

I always loved the straightness of IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES' sound: it leaves no thoughts behind after you listen to its music. This is a ritual, not just music, so be careful: if you want to dance, try ABBA.

The album explores things about which we do not like talk seriously: we deny them or leave thoughts about them for some later time. But, alas, there is no "later" in eternity. Afterlife exists NOW as we do exist in our life NOW. If you want to understand it better, go to Palermo's catacombs.

As a shaman, Jouni gives us a possibility to hear something unusual. Just listen.

And, in my humble opinion, this track is possibly the best in this album:

Kiitos, Jouni, for another great album.
