Review. VASHA DAI. "The Album": the worst album of experimental music?

Utena is a unique town in Lithuania. Many interesting bands come from there: actually, one can say that the first and the most interesting black metal / experimental music bands are from there. I should mention POCCOLUS, HA LELA, ZPOAN VTENZ, SOVIJUS, SEDU, SALA, Audrius Šimkūnas (the best field recordings in Lithuania and one of the best in the world; a member of SALA), VASHA DAI (Vaidas Šadeika, a member of SALA), HOKSHILA, ANBO, ŽVAIGŽDUMĖNIJA, SAPLES, GILJOTINA and a lot of more.

Review. VASHA DAI. "The Album": the worst album of experimental music?

Why did Vasha Dai release an album called The Album? It looks ironic and/or pretentious and remins me several well knows bands that released albums called The Album (ABBA, Caravan, Cliff Richard etc.).

From the beginning to the end i must mention - Vashai Dai must not sing. It's forbidden for him to do that. It's terrible. Ha cannot sing. The music is crazy, experimental, and everything's here fine. Lyrics are sophisticated, psychedelic. But, the voice. No, Vaidas, please, do not sing anymore. I MEAN IT.

By the way, he called his style anti-pop experimental atmospheric doom elph rock psichodelic folk from Spain. Jebytute, ramtatdryliaoilia (untranslatable Lithuanian sweet words).

The album was released on the 30th January, 2016, today, and recorded back in March 2015, in the Netherlands. Actually, Vashai Dai now calls himself and his band VASHA DAI AND THE MUTANT BAND.

The drawing of The Album is by Argentinian painter Leandro Falcone.

The band:

Gido Lahuis – electric guitar, mandolin, sazs, bass, back vocal on “The Cat”
Martijn Westra – bass, fretless bass
Vasha Dai – acoustic guitar, charango, vocal
Michelle Samba – drums, back vocal on “These stars”
Diederik Pasman – electric organ
Lennart Boonstra - acordeon

Lyrics by Vasha Dai.

Recorded in Academie voor Popcultuur studios and Gido’s house during 17th – 24th of March, 2015, Leeuwaarden, The Netherlands.

Produced by Gido Lahuis and Ramūnas Peršonis (Sovijus).

In general, i don't understand why such music is created. If you cannot sing, don't. If you cannot play, don't. There are many great bands of any style in the world. C'mon, people. Stop it. And travel to Mars. Maybe there you will find new ideas if you cannot find them in Earth.

Anyway, other albums of Vasha Dai are really better (a little bit). Of course, the best one was his participation in SALA. That was all my opinion. I just can't listen to those who can't sing.

An old remix (from around 1998) made by Vasha Dai's and Ha Lela's friend from another Lithuanian group Pievos. That was really a good band.
