RES B.: We should all collaborate more with our current surrounding and listen carefully

You lived in India and Nepal for years. Why?

Ok ... lets talk India. As i told you ... i did live about 20 years there ... from this 7 in Nepal. But there is no big diffence from the Himalayan India and Nepal. However ... first time was in 1979 for 3 years. I immediately found out, that it is possible to live outdoor wherever you like. Just somewhere in the nature, temple ruins ... make a fire ... cook your food ... paradise. Altogether i spend at least 10 years in this way. Also the time, when i got to meet lots of yogis, sadhus ... learnd about this kind of life. Then there was three other journeys to India until i stould from 1996 till 2008 without returning to Switzerland. To the question what i did in all those years? I can say, really enjoying my life with all the highs and deeps! Crossing alone all India on a Cycleriksha in 1998/99, covering about 6'500 km. But mostly on an Enfield 500 cc bike, doing at least 240'000 km, exploring every nook & corner beside the northeast. And taking every chance to make some money. In the end mostly with yoga and massage. Massage is the thing i still do here in Zurich ... together with my wife who is from Tibet. This gives me today the freedom to create the music i enjoy ... without thinking: Will this be a hit ... much money?

Beside all this i played with band ... 7 years in Switzerland, 1 year in Israel and 2 years in NYC and around. Ok, was fun ... not more, not less.

Is it true that 1 million Swiss people are always on the road, travelling? Do You listen to Swiss music?

Honestly ... i have no time to listen to music. Or lets say better, when i don't work on my things, i have no urge to listen to more music. And if so, it is more that i "accidentaly" get to hear something, or that i like to know something particular. But this can be of any style.

1 million Swiss are traveling? That's a lot!!! We are only 8 millions ... and out of this at least 30% foreigners living here.

I talk Swiss dialect understanding all the so called Swiss-German ones and German of course. But also French and some Italian ... not used to speak the last one anymore. But i speak and read also Hindi & Urdu ... i did live 20 years in India.

You worked with a plethora of artists over the years. What collaborations were/are the most interesting and important to You and why?

For me there is no such thing like most "interesting/important". Let's say i'm sittting for example at the station waiting for the bus, train, whatever, listening to all the sounds surrounding me ... or somewhere out in the nature ... at the highway ... you name it, it doesn't matter, then THIS isn't less "important/interesting then any other so called "collaboration" with whoever. In fact, we should all "collaborate" more with our current surrounding and listen carefully, what IT is - constantly trying to explain to us. And suddenly, this entire "cacophony" starts to make sense!

You main ideas behind your Music?

There is no such thing like "main ideas" behind my music. THAT's how and who i am now! I start to work on a new track ... sometimes there is already a theme ... or the story will just grow out of doing. My new album from 2016 is "TripTychon" (listen on https://www.soundcloud.com/res-b). Part I "Adams Spare Rib" is "The Last Judgement", Part II "Voodoo Child Reloaded", "The Hell" and Part III "The Golden Eternity", "Paradise" ... how ever you wish to name it ... plus the "Bonus Track" of course, "Toccata E Funk" ... every good CD needs a Bonus Track! All this "Hell/Heaven" thing is just for a better understanding without getting too deep in details. Just listen carefully to the music!

My favorites? Hey, after letting them out from the house ... at the end they are all "my" kids ... i love and care about all of them! ... the rest i "abort" immediately ... hahaha!!!

Is sound magic to You?

What ends when there is no sound? I guess you like to know what is there for me, when there is no sound? is there anybody who really know this?!? Or ... is there anything like absolut silence? If i'm alive, i can still hear blood roaring through my system ... or i catch some sounds from my oversensitised me. Sometimes i can experience this in the mountains. At the other hand ... if my body did turn into fertilize. Is there another "world"? Who really knows? It doesn't matter to me now ... i'll check it out or not, when my final moment on earth did happen. This is just guessing around ... useless ... maximum time pass. But life is really very short. No matter if we live 1 or 100 years. So better concentrate in what you hear now! You'll be surprised ... there is lots!!!

Is computer a music instrument, too?

... or, what IS "Art" anyway? Simply Artificial? ... and overrated by a bunch of cocky megalomaniacs, who think they are sooo special, doing "Art", instead of standing day by day in the factory at the feeder band doing the "Chaplin"? Comon ... do what you think you have to, but don't put yourself on any pedestal!

Who thinks that Mozart & Co. would work in our days like they did in the so called "old days", is a romantic dreamer. They did use what they could get their hands on. That's what they have been capable to do ... not any "better" or "worse". They did experiment with what THEY had ... and now WE do nothing else then exactly that.

New styles, new trends in experimental music, what do You think about them?

I don't think anything about this ... and i hardly understand the names some "experts" give to all those countless styles. I work and love on what i'm doing right now. And i guess all of them do the same. If someone else enjoys what i'm doing ... hey, great and thank you!!! Otherways ... simply search what makes YOU happy. It really doesen't matter how they call it. But it matters how it moves YOU!!!

What do You know about Lithuania?

I'm very sorry ... and i hope that i don't step on anybodys foot ... honestly, i don't know anything about Lithuania. I have never been there! Where is it exactly? ... wait, i will google ... hahaha! Hey, there is plenty of people out there, who have no clue where is Switzerland too! No problem for me ...

No way. We all know where Switzerland is. In Lithuania. We have village Šveicarija (Lith. Switzerland).

Ok. What about Your inspirations?

As i did say already ... there isn't any "most" in my life ... and it never was. As a little kid in school they really gave me a hard time with those dumb questions: " What is your favorite color this & that?" Something "inspires" me, because the time for this "something" is right.

And what do i follow? I'm not a born "Follower"! In fact nobody is!!! But they like us to be ... it's much easyer to conduct us. What a petty! You'll never find out who you are ... but more uniqueness instead of uniform can't heart after all!!!

What are You working on right now?

Right now i work on this huge project. They build a new train tunnel through the alpes right now ... the "Albula Train Tunnel". The very interesting Swiss Artist Urs Furrer, who is working only with his own paint selfmade out of Swiss Alp Stones, will get rocks from this 5'900 m hole - a sample piece from every 300 m - did ask me 3 months ago, if i would like to compose the sound for this project? About 2 years time to finish and no restrictions. So, if you listen to my work ... THATS exactly my thing!

So RES B. is Your family name?

"Res", from Andreas and "B" from my family name. I'm anyway a solo project in those days.

Thank You.
